Onlything I know that exports directly to .swf (albeit
w/o alot of the info that makes 3d so cool) is
illustrate (www.davidgould.com), has a high entry
price since it works only with 3dstudio (www.ktx.com).
Many other 3d programs render to a 'toon' shader which
creates vector(or anime) _looking_ art you can trace
bitmap, a few I use are Animation Master (hash.com),
ElectricImage (electricimage.com) and Cinema4d
(cinema4d.com). Of these I find ElectricImage easiest
to use, Cinema the fastest, and AnimationMaster the
best for character work (as well as the least
expensive;-). Newtek's Lightwave also includes a comic
shader. None of these methods easily produce small
files, however, the most efficient method
(bandwidthwise) is to produce 3d art in flash itself
either with programming or perspective and shading.
