That's just kind of huge, isn't it? I mean, how big is the file itself?
I'm assuming a few megs, right? That's just killing the purpose of making
a screensaver out of flash really...50 bitmaps at 800x600 ....jesus.
How does Flash work, or screensavers? Isn't it trying to load these 50
images into RAM to display on timeouts? Well no wonder!!!!
In my opinion, the advantage of flash as a screensaver is to create
everything in vector, so that 1) the screensaver will be tiny - like at
the most 800k! 2) no matter what resolution someone has they're monitor
to, the flash file will scale up...in your screensaver, if the person has
their monitor set to 640x480, the bitmaps will either be cut off or look
horrible as they're scaled down (say, these bitmaps are 72 pixel
resolution, right? NOT print resolution?) 3) vector can be loaded into
ram quickly on any machine...
what is this for? I'm assuming an art installation or something where you
have control of the machine right? I mean, you're not thinking that
someone will download this screensaver as your portfolio or something,
right?
