Subject: | FLASH: Menu movie troubles. |

Hiyas,
I'm trying to get a menu working in a particular scene of a Flash 4 file
but I'm having trouble getting it to talk properly to the scene. I'm
probably doing something stupid but I'll try and explain what I've got
going....
The menu is a movie symbol which has other button symbols inside it and
an animation that is triggered from a button in the first frame (which
is stopped) to slide the menu up from it's starting position.
In the main scene I've got a seperate layer for the menu and made a key
frame at the start and put the menu movie symbol in this keyframe. The
menu movie symbol has a target name of menuMovie by the way.
Ok, so when I play the .swf file, the menu button is where it should be
and does all it's animations etc correctly but none of it's buttons
(which goto and play labels in the main scene of the primary movie)
work. It looks like the commands are only going to the menu movie. If I
make a label inside the menu movie and assign a button to go to it, it
works fine, but if I try to get a button to work with a label in the
primary movie/scene it seems to send the menu movie back to it's first
frame without going to the correct label in the primary movie/scene.
Essentially what I'm trying to do is have the menu sitting over the top
of the main scene for the entire length of the movie so viewers can jump
to set points within it. I think some of the cause of this problem is
that the menu's buttons aren't always on display, but slide up when the
menu title button is pressed (much like an animated drop down list). I
guess it's difficult to have tow animations running independant of each
other but still in the same scene.
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this? I
just hope I've been clear enough for you to understand what I'm babbling
about :)
Thanks,
Kris
