for one thing, I realized (way too late) that tight syncing wasn't really
going to happen. I'd planned for his lips to animate with the words (cause
there were so few), but I quickly saw that varations in cpu would make that
a nightmare.

so for the most part I just did stuff that was less dependent on precise
timing. For example: eyes opening slowly during musical transitions. And of
course the frentic backround animations that always look decievingly well
synced.

Oh, and the little icon fellow were a neat trick too. Since the music
started off with that with stop/start kind of sound, I did the same thing
with the icon fellows. That creates the same sort of illusion as the
frentic bg animations.

now I just have to work out what to do about 28.8s and below...
