Hi Jay,
> I am trying to fill some text with a gradient.
To modify the shape or fill of text characters you must first break it
apart into basics shapes. Breaking apart text will remove all of the
text advantages, so do it only when needed such as is the case where you
want to add a gradient fill to your text. Hopefully, you plan to do this
to a limited amount of headline text as the file size will increase from
breaking the text apart if you have more than one of the same characters
broken apart. Also, the gradients may slow down any effect that you plan
to effect with the new gradient filled text.
