the detection system you're talking about is posted here:
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/moockfpi/
complete with basic instructions on making it work with different
configurations. the script does redirection or content swapping
depending on how you set it up. here's an excerpt from the above page:
"the basic functioning of the fpi is governed by two variables you'll
find at the top of the script on the page moockfpi.html in the .zip file
posted [on the site above]. the variables are: 1) requiredVersion, which
you should set to match the version of flash you demand of your
visitors, and 2) useRedirect, which you should set to true if you want
the user to be sent to separate pages depending on whether or not they
meet your flash requirements, or to false if you want to dynamically
insert the appropriate flash/nonflash content right into the detection
page."
