RE: FLASH: Advanced Flash Techniques class coming soon!

It doesnt mention any of this stuff in the curriculum I saw.


I think that this kind of high-level stuff, which is the fundamentals of any

compsci graphics course, would be hard to convey in merely one day. Better

to buy yourself "Computer Graphics: Principles and Practice" by Foley & Van

Dam, and read it cover to cover before you consider implementing these kinds

of things in Flash.


Is anyone inerested in starting a mailing list for publicly discussing and

sharing such techniques? I know that I would have a thing or two to

contribute, and Ive definately seen others who could contribute. I think

flashers tends to be a little to broad and shallow for such discussions.


If anyone is interested, email me. Im sure we could have fun and help each

other really push the limits.

No offense taken. I have seen the curriculum of Scotts... and I have to this

class is different from any advanced course out there.   Most courses

concentrate on teaching the syntax, the commands, etc.  Fig Leafs class will

cover those things, but not focus on them. The class focuses on techniques

with which to approach coding in Flash and teaching *really* high end things

like physics modeling, z-sorting, and the like.  The material covers

concepts and techniques that myself and other fig leaf employees

discovered/developed, and thus would not be available at any other facility.


All that aside, I know Scotts material is top-notch stuff, and I'm sure that

it would prove to be a good class for many people to take.

Sterling Ledet and Associates has been teaching an Advanced Flash

class  for months, centered around some pretty heavy duty

actionscripting. It was first taught by Scott Hamlin, and now by our

resident Flash expert still based on Scott's materials.


While Branden is a gifted developer, and probably a good teacher,

there are certainly classes already happening offering advanced

scripting techniques.
