Thanks,
what you are saying is the reason why we chose for flash to develop our
application ("Observer"). Altough we didn't had the cognitive ergonomic
angle, we had a more technical angle, Flash can sit in a browser while
waiting for more info, an HTML page has to be reloaded to perform a new
task.

Subject: RE: FLASH: General role of Flash in webdesign...
Hi to all,
I would like to put in some other arguments on that topic from a different
perspective. I am a
psychologist and just recently started web development. As a psychologist I
look on web-desgin
more from a cognitve ergonomic point of view. In this respect I consider
flash a very useful tool
in developing web interfaces which fit cognitve ergonomic needs of the
users. One example is the
easy way one can fade in text/graphic with flash (see the development from
Win 95 thru Win 2000 -
first windows simply poped up then they rolled in (Win 98) and now they
fade in). Another example
is the instant access to the content of a web site: in html I press a button
then I have to wait
until the server is connected the page loaded .... in flash, due to its
streaming, I press a
button and instantly get the page. I don't want to blow up this subject too
much here but if
people are interested I can give you more examples why flash is very useful
in creating cognitve
ergonomic web-pages and why html isn't. I think this view on web design
still is too much
neglected.
Markus
P.s.: Sorry for my bad english - hope everyone could understand it
