Jeffries,
Not John answering but I'm sure he will add to my answer if necessary.
This subject came up some days ago on this list and some examples where
implied or given. In essence we can have two basic areas.
One would be to have a library of template movies that could be configured
to a particular request or situation by just filling in the changeable
information. This would rely mostly on the offline capabilities of Generator
as you would be delivering .swf files to your clients. This type of usage is
good for small scale clients that could choose from a catalogue of pre
defined templates what they want and then just give you the information to
generate the final movie. The advantages here are that even if the initial
investment to build a reasonably sized and varied template library might be
a bit high you will be able to 'sell' each template multiple times and have
very short production times for your movies.
Another area that can benefit is if you have frequently changing information
that you want to be delivered via a flash movie. The answer to this
situation could involve online generation or just offline generation
depending on the time interval that the changes require. As an added bonus
if the changes are mostly object changes, i.e. text and or data and or some
images you can have the client trigger them. Just have an admin sub area on
the clients sites that he has access to and from where he can upload the new
elements via forms or whatever. Then a simple cgi could trigger the
generation of the new versions of the flash movies and you would only need
to make sure the checks keep coming in ;).
Hope this helps
