Or alternatively put a rectangular mask the size of the stage on the top
layer.....

++ One thing that I do at times is make a border on the very
++ top layer - i.e.
++ match the b/g colour of the movie but extend a border around
++ it up to 2x the
++ size of the movie to hide out these elements.
