I agree, this does sound preferable for the project you are making.
I don't know if Director allows you to do this (comments?) but Flash
projectors just don't have much in the way of system-level operability.
They're mainly intended to play animations outside of the browser. It's
logical that people want to do more with them, but the GetURL "mailto:" just
doesn't have the ability to target specific applications. I would hesitate
building Flash projectors for this purpose myself.
Thanks for the info, though. It is definitely worth discussing. You can also
send requests like this to wish-flashmacromedia [dot] com, where the Flash
product team reads feature requests.
