Flashers,

Well, this isn't exactly the buttoned down numbers you're looking for but
it's going in the right direction...

Flash artists need to have solid numbers about licensing and selling their
creations on the web in order to survive and thrive! I am doing a
presentation on June 2nd to help share that info. The session is taking
place at the World Animation Celebration in Hollywood, www.wacfest.com. The
panelists that I will be asking questions of include Steve Stanford,
Icebox.com, Ken Goldstein, Disney Online, Stefanie Henning, Shockwave.com,
Brian Napack,Thinkbox.com, Christine Schwarzman, IPnetwork. In my initial
conversations with them I am learning some really valuable stuff.

So, in doing my research I would LOVE to hear from any flash artists who are
licensing content on the web. If I use your example as a case study you will
get credit. Here's one that I'm aware of:
Canadian web content shop licensed a basic flash game for $5,000 per month,
for a six month period. The trick was that they used the client's logo in
the game as a focal point. The game was very popular and the license was
renewed. The creators took a gamble that the license would be renewed,
because the development time probably (I'm guessing here from personal
experience) exceeded the initial revenue generated by the license. They also
benefitted by holding onto the rights to the game, because they could resell
the game to other clients by "swapping" in a different logo.

>It's wierd, I feel like I'm almost in the dark as far as pricing
>goes.

look forward to hearing from you!
