Subject: FLASH: OpenFLA Project

dave,
i too would like to participate in an 'open scource' effort focused on
building flash tools.
in addition to developing 3d we ALL NEED HTML IMPORT, for the following
reasons...

*being able to import HTML as a 'load movie' function would allow us to
add complete and wonderful navigation systems to the billions of existing
web sites.

*we could the zoom, pan, reorganize, tint, color and add overlays with
hidden buttons and movies to AUGMENT the billions of dollors already
invested in the presently operating on the web.

*as flash designers we would become helpers and collaborators with those
in the existing web structure rather than thier greatest threat.

*existing page systems could add too, rather than replace, thier exist
successful web efforts and those doing the information management would be
able to keep thier jobs and continue using thier existing skills... let the
html people keep being responsible for the price list changes!

*voice overs, cues, sound effects, and music could be added to the
EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE.

*flash/swf could ALSO PRELOAD HTML, thus greatly enhancing the value of
existing html through much more rapid delivery. imagine html sites that swap
pages as fast as the best flash photo galeries!

= swf would then expload across the existing web system and we would all
get rich as teachers and consultants., if we could import and contain html
as an object [ie: a url as a 'loaded movie'].

i have no idea whether or not this would be possible.
i don't understand why it hasn't been done...

please help me understand...

thanks,

dave matthews

Subject: FLASH: OpenFLA Project

Hi Flashers,

Thought I might repost this message with a new subject because I have an
idea.

Wouldn't it be nice to start an open source project involving the flasher
community.
Such as building a very fast and small 3d "flash" engine that can parse a
VRML file to create a complex 3d object.
A tough idea I know but I like a challenge. There are so many ways to
approach this.

So my offer is this:

I have a server running linux and php3.
I have webspace for building a project site.
I have a very patient but lovely network administrator and web guru.
Everything can be configured.
A searchable message board etc... even chat.
I just don't have enough time in the day and way too much enthusiasm.

If I get enough people interested I can get the ball rolling... let's see if
we can get it off the ground.
So if you are interested.... all ideas and suggestions are truly welcome.

email me at openflaateleven1 [dot] com ...see I even set up a special mail account
for it. ; )

cheers
