Sorry, you're right, sort of... various folks have generic "go to movie
'intro.dcr'" stubs available online... I usually point folks to Gretchen's
place:

You wouldn't have to buy a copy and make your own stub... there are generic
stubs available. (Note the range of Xtras on that page, though... unlike
Flash, Director is extensible, and the vastness of Gretchen's listing shows
why it's not as universal as making a simple EXE from Flash.)
There's usually a followup question here: "Well, why doesn't Macromedia
Support make these stubs available?" I don't do it myself because it would
imply that this is a sane development strategy... no way do I want to be
exposed to "well it worked on my Mac but now on my PC why is the audio
different" and what-all. Call me a scaredy-cat, sure, but I've seen what
happens with the penny-wise approach.... ;-)
