Subject: | FLASH: "Load Variable" Poblem |

Hi,
This cost me lots of time so I thought I'ld send it in...
I had a problem in IE 4.5 mac with "load Variables". The action script was
in the first cell of the movie and it was stalling the playback within the
browser. I realised when I put the files on my web server that the problem
had disappeared. Then, when I dragged the file from the web server to a
browser window via my desktop, the problem came back.
So, over http the "load variables" works fine. Called locally from a swf, or
html page with the swf embeded, its is parsed using "file://" and the
playback will break. I didn't have time to check, but this is probably true
of "load Movie" as well.
The irony that it was my development environment which kicked up this
particular problem, the client expreience is fine. If you do develop on a
lan/local machine my advice is to test the thing early for IE 4.5 using
http, then just have faith that it will work when live.
cheers
