Hi Dan,

Sure there is, at least if you're detecting for flash 4. Use the "How to
detect the Flash 4 player without using Javascript" technote from
Macromedia. It's the top one of the top 3 technotes listed on:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/
Weeelll... it uses flash to detect for flash, and a meta refresh for the
other page. I dunno if that counts as signalling the embedded object, but it
sounds like it might work.
