Hey Jason:


We were tasked with creating a content heavy site, and I pushed the use of

Flash as a story telling tool in the corporate environment.  I thought, and

still think, that it's speed and simple interactivity lend the potential for

more dynamic navigation and information delivery. The entire navigation for

our site is Flash, as are the opening scenes.  We couldn't make them that

gonzo because of a conservative environment but Flash provides a far more

interesting solution than the straight html, JavaScript, animated GIF

alternatives.  We also have a section that's called the "Product Center" in

which we use flash as in interface for a 20-25 page body of text.  It works

beautifully and the response has been outstanding, although the design was

more governed by institutional attitudes than any sort of aesthetic sense

(executive approval vs. design approval).


I think the biggest limitation to using tons of text in Flash, is the lack

of decent text formatting tools in the program itself, and the fact that you

can't print a flash movie.


Otherwise-- Flash is a grand tool for communicating, especially when used in

combination with traditional web tools.
