Christian: I kind of agree with you. A little extra bandwidth is fine. I
also took the time to open the file (Win 95 350-P133 on a T-1) and found it
pretty decent. However, the file is still too large for what it tries to
accomplish.
There comes a point when bloated file-size can prevent communication from
happening. I think it does in this case. The web isn't a patient medium.
On the Web, where hardware and file-size stand between my work and my
audience, good design means that people want to use and get to see whatever
artistry I've "put a shitload of effort" into. Flash delivers the biggest
bang/k on the web these days. It's tempting, but not wise, to go for
overkill.
