If you're trying to take a symbol from one movie to another, a much easier way is to just open both FLA files, then open both libraries.  You can then drag the symbol from Movie 1's library into Movie 2.

An alternative would be to open Movie 1 as a library using File >Open as Library.


If you import the SWF into a new movie and the spider symbol was instanced as a movie clip, then only one frame will be imported.  If all four frames were present on the timeline, then all four frames should come in as separate keyframes on the timeline in the new movie.
