Subject: List Animation Project - The Specs

Great, looks like we have a good gathering here!

First off, I would like to thank all of you for wanting to "come and
play" and those of you that offered hosting and scripting resources.
We'll take care of the hosting, domain reg, etc., from this end and open
up special scripting to the group if people want it.

The gear we are opening up for this little project will give those
developers who would like access to ASP and Cold Fusion servers the
ability to play. The reason for this is one of the tools that we would
like to open up for people to mess with while they are building their
animation segments is our work on a "Flash Generator". We got a little
miffed when all that Macromedia had was a fill in form, eventhough we
love "Macro" products and am sure they are very busy, and decided to
through some time at creating our own.

So, own hopes are whether you are a Flasher that loves heavy code access,
a top flight animator that kicks or somewhere in the middle, you should
be able to show off your stuff and have some fun within this little
project.

We have already got the chat, forum, etc., servers running and are
offering them for the cause so we'll have a pretty interactive area for
discussions. Oh, as far as our uplink, we're sitting on light to the
backbone...so we're fine.

Okay, the specs for the animation project are as follows.

We'll start with a single animation of 15 seconds. It will be formated
to go full screen (100% Wide, 100% Tall) on a 800 x 600 17" monitor. The
actual pix size will be 750 x 440 taking the dims from IE running on a PC
with the normal goodies on.

The file will be posted on the site and then the next person in line will
get the file. They will then use the last 2 to 5 seconds of the
animation as the beginning of theirs...even if they just morph it, etc.
Then, when they are done, it will be uploaded onto the site and chained
off the first one...and passed onto the next person in line. We don't
want to create a huge flash doc, so if you are going to use the last 2
seconds of the animation you would delete the first 13 seconds...you know
the drill.

As I said above, you can push anything you'd like for scripting, sound,
etc., it just needs to work, obviosly.

Updating your section of the animation will be done via FTP. You'll
upload all your stuff and we can test it before we drop it into the live
project.

The site location will run off www.walterstudios.com. The forum is going
up this afternoon, so hope on in and chatter away. The holding pages for
the project are going up at the same time. There will be a listing of
"Who's Next" that will be generated from the email I have received, so
first come, first play!

I think that is a wrap on the this phase.

I'll build the first section and have that up Friday, so the next person
can get rolling over the weekend.

In another direction... I know that there was talk about a Flash
Developers Database will "FalshCards"...kinda like biz cards. I replied
to the email about it a while back and haven't heard anything else...so
we might as well spin that up now for those of you that want to show off
in a central place while you are waiting for the project to get to you.
This will consist of each person getting a record in the database that
will list this bio info...
Name (First & Last)
Email Address
URL (If needed)
Service Mark (Pitch Line)
25 Keywords for searching
FlashCard (1)

FlashCard is 200x120 under 15 seconds of straight animation time (looping
not counted) and can be linked to a single full page animation within the
site if you wish. The page may contain anything you would like under a
meg...for starters. If you need more space for something REALLY cool,
let me know.

The first thing to go up will be a searchable FlashCard index, with page
access later in the month. So, build your cards and send me your Bio
info and lets gett this thing rolling.

Well, I think that's it! I've collapsed the above URL and will be
dropping the connecting links directly off the homepage to get this
smoking.

Once again, thanks to everybody and lets have some fun!
