I tried to run the projector on a 3.1 machine and it just doesn't work. (it might if you had the Win32 extensions).
If you are trying to create a projector that will run under Windows 3.1, you will need to create the projector using the 16-bit player SWFLSH16.EXE rather than the 32-bit projector SWFLSH32.EXE.
You'll be constrained to using the 8.3 filenames that DOS and Windows 3.1 support, so don't create a projector with a long file name.
1. Is the Flash3 standalone projector cross-platform?
The shipping product will include projectors for all supported platforms, along with the plugins and ActiveX control. The Windows CD will include "Mac standalone players.hqx" and "Mac Netscape Plugins.hqx". The Macintosh CD will include "PC Standalone Players.zip", "PC Netscape Plugins.zip" and "FlashAXInstaller.zip".
2. Is it possible to change the icon of the projector? (I'm on a Win95 machine and programming is not my forte, so please spell it all out for my dim brain if you have an answer for this one.)
I don't think you can change the icon of the projector by yourself. We have not specifically tested this, so if you try it and it doesn't work, don't be surprised. John Croteau's description of how to create a shortcut would be a far easier and less invasive way of doing this.
