One more tip is that now we can layer partially-transparent shapes for even
more complex effects. For instance, if you make a gradient that alternates
between high and low transparency, then pour it into two identical shapes
atop each other, then the "Transform Fill" tool can be used on the top one
to give some wild interference and moire effects.
(Rephrased, we can now see through the top object to the bottom one, and so
layered transparencies can become much more complex. Watch out for the
increased processing costs, though!)

By layering one planet above another, each mostly transparent, you can also
get a backcolor of complementary hue, similar-but-different to what Judy
Miller was talking about. Layering costs calculations, but it can be
pretty.
Anyone else doing odd things with transparency...?
