Fireworks normally edits with curves. You can also perform the standard

pixel operations too, though.


First step is to decide to modify it as pixels. If you're working with an

imported JPEG or whatever, go to the "Modify" menu and choose "Background

Object". If you're working with a pixel-image in a layer, select the object

and choose "Image Object" from the Modify menu.


You can then use the Magic Wand, the Cloning Tool, the pixel filters, etc.

When you're done editing pixels, choose "Exit Image Edit" from the Modify

menu.


(The Magic Wand Tool itself is in the second row, second column of the

Toolbox, on the rollout.)



Note that all imported vector curves are stroked and rendered in realtime.

If you bring in a CorelDRAW! or other file, what you're seeing is all brush

information applied to that outline in realtime. This realtime

parameterized rendering is the big reason why Fireworks is designed around

modern machines. Complex curve sets will require more processing power too.

Try turning the brush to one of the fancier ones and you'll see what I

mean... ;)
