Make one generic character if you can and have all the animation loaded into
your MC as needed. You may be able to create external swf files and load
them as each charcter is selected. On a side note make it so your generic
char is a instance where applicable.

If you make one char create funtion calls of animation to place on a
charcter for keeping your size small.

have one move like : Head
Body
Legs

If something = something
then
Tell target ="/Head"
end tell target
etc etc...

If you can't get it to work just make one big movie and email me off list
and Ill try to help you reduce the size and comment it for you.
