by different settings do you mean different sampling rates?

yep...they play fine. however i can't import them into director either.
i've used MM soundedit, SoundJam MP, Amadeus N2MP3, and SoundApp. nothing
seems to work.
The import error is almost always accompanied by a low memory warning for
flash. i tried increasing the memory to almost double the recommended
minimum but it hasn't helped. could this have anything to do with it?
