It sounds like you may be able to use something similar to the radio button

example in the Widgets library (on the F4 cd). Or try,

http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/

and type "radio" in the search field. This was helpful for me in understanding

how to turn multiple MC's on and off without writing 100's of tell target

commands.
