Hi all,
There's four basic ways to create 3D effects in Flash.
1) Use a traditional 3D program and convert its frames to a bitmap frame
by frame animation and use that bitmap animation in Flash as frame by
frame.
2) Use the same technique as above but convert to vectors.
3) Export from a 3D program in a 2D vector format as a frame by frame.
Only some 3D programs export in a 2D vector format and most that do
export as wireframe only. This hopefully will change as we request this
feature and as MM includes more options for the 3D vendors to work with.
The main component to make it interesting to 3D vendors would be a set
of standard vector fills or fill routines.
4) Import or create the first and last images as vectors and use Shape
Tweening to animate the effect. An example is:

This is a 5K file done completely in Flash using Shape Tweening and
Hinting.
One note about using Bitmaps for animation in Flash.
Moving bitmaps can have a lower resolution than a motionless bitmap and
still look good as long as the motion is maintained at a quick pace. In
fact fast moving objects look more real when a blur is present.
The problems using bitmaps for Animation in Flash are primarily due to
the generally larger sizes of bitmaps and the slow frame rate of Flash.
Flash rarely runs faster than 12-15 frames per second despite its
setting and often runs slower.
