Hi Frank,
Hard to say without seeing it, but is your button looping back to the frame
where the textfield is loaded? It may be looping very fast and redrawing the
text field/cursor each time, then when you stop the loop, the textfield behaves
normally.
If this is the case try putting the two on different timelines -- i.e. put the
textfield on the main timeline and make the looping button a movieclip so that
only the movieclip loops, not the whole movie.
