Flash4 magic will walk you through a bunch of projects using mostly
ActionScript to achieve advance Flash4 effects. I have used it mainly to
get my feet wet with ActionScript and it has been good for that. It is not
an overview or general introduction to Flash4. In that respect, it is most
like Hillman Curtis's Flash Web Design, which deconstructs a number of
projects and gives very basic step-by-step instructions for building them
yourself. Curtis's book is very much from a design perspective.

The Bible is more of an overview. There are several other books in that
category. Most advanced Flash developers find these books are not written
in sufficient depth to add much to their knowledge. But after nearly three
years of fulltime Flash production, I find there's always a few more things
to learn about Flash basics, and I have recommended several of the
"general" Flash books to my students, with the caveat that there are going
to be times when your questions probably won't be answered by any book and
you will need to rely on ingenuity, scientific method, or the graces of
other Flash developers to provide the answers.
