Would you personally have posted a substandard site with that kind of error?

No it isn't. It is about both the technology and the design. Just look at
people's reactions to sites. Most say it is gorgeous. That word is associated
with design, not tech.

Also I don't, for a second, believe you have ever had a client take you aside
and say " Love the tech."

The thing with Flash is that both have to be carefully balanced or you wind up
with exactly the situation that sparked this discussion.

One final point. A few of the comments on this subject revolved around not
getting the point. When that happens the tech takes precedence over the design.
Don't ever forget that what we do is communicate a message through this medium
called the internet. If someone doesn't get the point they aren't stupid. You
failed to communicate the message.
