Well, it's *possible* to grab data from a distant URL, Jason, the only

kicker is that it needs to be formatted so Flash can read it. This data

needs to be URL-encoded, as it would be for FORM transfer, and there's an

example on p183 of the Flash 4 manual.


This is one of those areas where the Shockwave Player pays for its

increased download size... in addition to its other abilities, it can

retrieve and parse data in XML or any arbitrary format. Flash *can*

retrieve, but the tradeoff for small player size is that the data needs to

be preformatted, sorry.
