Subject: FLASH: Video games
From: Dunn, Jeff

Hello, list,
I have been working on a video game, trying to use a variable to control my
character and my background. When the button to move the character to the
left is pressed, in addition to the tell target action, a variable (direct)
is set to boolean False. The same variable is set to True when the right
button is hit. I use this variable and an if/else statement to try to
control which way the character is facing when you hit the stop button.
But, I'm doing something wrong because he is always facing left when he
stops. This is my first attempt to use variables in Flash and I've probably
got the syntax wrong or something.

Also, once I work this out, I want to use an equation to make the background
respond to the same variable by continually increasing or decreasing the
x_position of the background elements. Can I do this? Can I do this and
nest moving enemies in the background movie?

I have included a link below to the fla.

Thanks in advance.
