I agree with you Ray,

Give the visitor an out, "skip intro". They may have visited already and
have come back to see more content in the rest of the page. I would give
them that option. You can still do this as full page, I don't particularly
like this, but that's my opinion. Why? Well, they may have other things on
their desktop, at the same time, and they only have a little time to look at
your design. Hey, if it's a good design, it will look good as full or just
in the browser minimized.
