Just want to mention that if you go to Macromedia's site (or look in your
user's manual), you will notice that the system requirements of Flash and
many other Macromedia programs specifically state that a Pentium chip is
required for their Windows software -- the requirements do not say "Pentium
compatible."

This is not to say that Athalons will give you problems with Flash.
However, if you search Macromedia's TechNotes for "Cyrix" you will come
across problems which have occurred in the past due to MMX compatibility
problems on non-Pentium Windows systems. Something to check for when making
a processor choice; Pentium-compatible chips are not 100% identical.
</snip>

Ack... okay... first of all Cyrix has not been making any new chips for a
*long* time (in computer time at least)... and they are just now starting to
work on new chips(their Joshua chip sounds interesting) But I have seen
this argument thrown around for many years now for why Intel chips are
better... I have had Cyrix, AMD, and Intel. I have not had a problem with
any of them, in fact, I do the majority of my development on an Athalon
desktop and an Intel laptop. As it is now, I would recommend AMD waay above
Intel. They are much more advanced chips, and attack problems with more
intelligence than just raw mHz. If you go to www.arstechnica.com and read
up on it, you will find that the Athalon has more alike to the G4 than it
does to the PIII, which is really impressive, since the G4 is easily the
best chip out there. (Actually G4 is a collection of chips, but thats
beside the point)
