All of the stuff Freeserve puts on offer could equally be offered by any
other of the hundreds of ISPs on the market, free and otherwise. But not all
of them are investing as much in bus shelter and other ads as Freeserve is
in telling them about it.

And of course Freeserve is advertising its "portal" as much as its dialup
access.

All of this is a service to the industry since the more Freeserve convinces
Jo public that she should be using the internet for everyday things, the
farther we can move away from the grotty techno-nerd image of the internet
of the past, the bigger the online population, the more typical the online
demographic, the more the internet will become a serious medium for
marketing communications for everyone.

If Freeserve reaps the reward from their efforts, more power to their share
price. Proves that capitalism isn't entirely unfair.
